The Sad Animal Issue
Perhaps it's clear that we as humans hope that something larger and smarter is out there watching, that it can take pity and give comfort. Perhaps we wonder if we've been alone since the beginning of civilization, if we're not alone, if we are being punished or tested, if we're owned or if we're free. Perhaps, the more our society progresses, the more we likewise begin to miss a crucial base element, a key animal need we cannot quite express. Perhaps of all the animals in the world, we are the saddest, and though we feel responsible, we do not have an answer or a cure.
